Walter Lister Appointed to Cabinet

In a brief ceremony this morning at Government House, The Hon. Walter M. Lister, JP, MP, was today sworn in as Minister without Portfolio by His Excellency, the Governor, Sir John M. M. Vereker, KCB.

The former Deputy Speaker of the House, Minister Lister was welcomed into the Cabinet by the Premier, the Hon. W. Alexander Scott, JP, MP. Minister Lister has represented the Progressive Labour Party in the Constituency of Sandy’s South since he was first elected to Parliament in June 1976. He has also served as Opposition Whip, and as a member of the House and Grounds Committee.

Minister Lister was born and educated in Bermuda and New York at the Monro Business Institute. As an Insurance Broker, he managed his own business, the Walter Lister Insurance Agency for 25 years before his retirement from professional life almost 10 years ago.

Minister Lister and his wife Brenda have one daughter, Lisa Marie Currin, son-in-law, Montel Currin, and two young grandchildren, Jalen and Mia.
